my names sara. Im nineteen years old and was born with gastrochesis aswell. Growing up, eveyone in my family has always tryed to bring out the posistive side in it. Iv reached a age in my life that i do really want to get it fixed. I AM self-conscious about it; and i feel that i wont stop being that way till i do something about it. Summer time, when all my friends are at the beach or pool parties i cant go to, im at home with my fake cold i invented or "working". I just wanna be comfortable in my own body. I live with my father and he want nothing to hear about me getting surgery. Also, to top that, im pretty sure he shouldnt have to pay for it. Iv secretly had a job for a while for this reason. Hopefully by the end of this year. ill find out if i have enough for it. I recently met a woman who was telling me about her surgery and the price of it. She got hers in Colombia. Well point is, i dont even know where to start looking?!

I was born in 1972 with gastrochisis. I am now 38 am am starting to have complications. I recently had to have my gall baldder removed and surprise...things were not where they should have been. My 45 min surgery doubled in time. The surgeon told me there was a lot of scar tissue, and I am having a rough time healing. I am trying to find out what I can expect for the future. I have many adhesions and lots of scar tissue. I have always had bowel trouble and weight issues. (don't know if that has anything to do with the gastrochisis).
After six years of trying, I was able to give birth to two beautiful children (three year apart), but was told a c-section was out of the question. For several years now I have been having "girl" trouble, and would love to just get a hysterectomy and get it over with, but no one will touch me. What to do???

I'm 15 weeks pregnant. At my ultrasound at 14 weeks my doctor seemed concerned because the abdomen was enlarged. He said it could either be a hernia, or Gastroschisis. He said he needed to send me to a specialist to seek further reviewing. When I went to the specialist at 15 weeks they gave me bad news. He told me I had gastrochisis and that it was so bad that there was no hope. My babys whole stomach is out starting at his heart. I have to see a surgeon soon for a second opinion. I have tryed to find a story like mine but I have only found stories with the small intestines and liver out. Have you heard anything like my babys?

Depending on where the Gastroschisis has formed, it`s not a "losing" of the belly button it is just the place where the repair was made, so when the protruding organ is replaced the surgical scar forms a kind of belly button but not in the way we all associate a belly button to be.

As far as our babies growth there is no set time to say when it will slow down or speed up, many gastroschisis babies are supposedly smaller or weigh less in comparison but this is not always the case.

Hello! I am currently in my 18th week and found out 2 weeks ago my baby has gastroschisis. I have a few questions if anyone can help! First does every baby with gastroschisis loose their belly button and why? Does it depend on the surgen? Also, at what point does Babys growth slow down? Right now its In the 64% but is there a week wher it starts to slow down? Thanks for your input!
