I was born 6 weeks premature, with gastroschisis. I was delivered on February 24, 1992, 3lbs, 6oz. I am now a fifteen year old honour student, athlete, and am planning to go to school to become a pediatric/neonatal surgeon to save children like myself. When I was born, the doctors said I would be smaller than most children, anti-social and could be slow in school, but today I am just the opposite of that. The only proof of my birth condition is a scarred belly-button that I find makes me unique. Gastroschisis has not affected my life in a negative way at all, it has only been inspiration for me to help children like myself.
