Any older Survivors?

Hello, I am 19 years old, and live in Washington State. I was one of the first children to survive Gastroschisis at Children s hospital in Seattle. I am curious if anyone else is older around my age who can relate to living with this condition. Anyone else B-12 deficient, or has no belly button from scars, or gets anemic…anyone just wanna talk about life with the condition. I never have spoken to anyone with this condition, it would be nice too!

well thats cool you have a belly button, I dont my scar is covering the spot. Do you have to watch what you eat at all? I eat whatever I want but red sauces dont like me.

Actually I never learn’t to eat. I have tried but I always get a swollen stomach. Saw another doc about it and apparently I cant have anything with starch in it. I live on Fortisip (orange) at the moment

Hey im Adrienne, in 21years, living in Britain. i was born with gastro and i live a ‘normal’ life. i eat normal foods and can do basically everything any other person can do. i dont think twice about it to be honest, its only when people see my scar covering my belly button people ask and i happly tell them. for the first three onths of my life i was kept in an incubator at the hospital and was on special milk. other than that i have grown up fine with all the other childeren around. i hope i can help if anyone wants to chat. x x

hey im 27 and was born with it. i havent had any problems other than crazy gas sometimes! i treat myself normally and the only thing i have ever done differently is drink sweet acidophilus milk because the doctors had told my mother that would be best. i was kept in the hospital incubator for 4 months and ate through a tube, but once sent home have never had a problem. i also have some crazy scars! hope that helped. dont know about you but i really enjoy reading others stories. i have never met another person with this either.
