My story;
hi, my names Shelby and i was born jan 28, of 1990 with gastroschisis.
Growing up i never really had physical problems with my scar. I was a cheerleader and i played competitive fastpitch softball, sliding and all my scar never hurt or tore, When i was 14 and 16 i had re-constructive surgery on my scar so it wasnt attatched to my stomach muscles and because i was uncomfortable with the 6 inch vertical scar in the middle of my stomach and the feeding tube scar i had on the side of the scar. Thanks god all my friends were very understanding and open minded with me.
well now that im getting older, I would like to know if having a child is safe. I would love some feedback on others who have had a child.
And to those who are expecting a baby with gastroschisis, dont worry yourself to death. Your baby will be fine =)         I had a very ordinary life! I wasnt made fun of or anything of the sort. My life has been great.

Hi Shelby ~
you know this is so weird i have never checked on line about my birthdefect ever until today…
I am 31 years old and i have had 4 children with no complicaitons. with my first child my scars got really tight but never split or anything like that.
I have always been really embaressed about my scars they are so horrible to me i have been thinking about having surgery to see what they can to do make me a new tummy plus after all my kids loosing the strech marks would be nice too…
the only complication i have had since birth was my intestines kinked when i was 2 yrs old and they had to reset them and i have not had a problem since… thank god…
one silly thing is when my babies moved in my tummy…i really really felt them move under my scar it was neet… with my last child i felt his little toes through my scar it was so cool
best of luck and if you have any questions please ask away

Hi Shelby
I am currently 35 weeks and 32 years old. We had a long road getting pregnant with 6 years of infertility. This pregnancy has been a little eventful with several episiodes of partial bowel obstruction. I have had to numerous of these to remember in the past. I will let you know of the outcome, but I am sure all will go well. The issue for me is that my baby is a breech and I was advised not to have a ceaser, but at this stage it looks like I may need one. That does scar me a bit with the possibility of having bowel nicked with my dodgy gut relatively high. Fingers Crosed.
