Support for Gastroschisis in Cornwall

Hi

I’m 20 weeks pregnant and my baby has gastroschisis. I’m currently living in Suffolk and go to Adanbrookes for specialist tests and monitoring. For a while I’ve been hoping to re-locate to Cornwall, and am now in a position to do so in the near future. I was wondering if anyone knows if there are any specialist units in the south-west, or what the general practice is for mothers living in this area?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Sarah

Dependent on exactly where you will be living in Cornwall and having lived there myself back in 1994 i can offer little assistance that suggests that there are specialist consultants in Cornwall. Truro is the main administrative town, so i would imagine it would be there. Failing that it may well be a trip up to Plymouth.

    Hi Sarah,
We are in Exeter and our closest hospital for our daughter Millie who was born with Gastrochisis last May 2007, was Bristol Childrens Hospital, we received all our scans and monitoring at the Royal, Devon and Exeter hospital and then transferred to Bristol for the birth and Millies operation and was in the NICU up there, so im not sure weather that might be the closest for you either, or like Dean said could well be Truro,
How many weeks pregnant are you?

    Emma
